Patronised by the Duchess of Devonshire, North Yorkshire Open Studios has been a stalwart of the art lovers calendar for many years with visitors coming from across the UK year after year. After deciding to have a break in 2016 they decided they wanted to relaunch, with a new brand and visual direction, aimed at bringing in a more diverse audience, and approached us to help implement this strategy.
What we did
- Brand Design
- Graphic Design
- Art Direction
- Print Management
Embracing this new strategy we set about developing a bold new identity, featuring the display font Essay. We introduced a short version ready for the ‘next generation’ which gives it greater flexibility through animation and positioning. We developed a fresh colour palette, inspired by the diverse landscapes of North Yorkshire, that could work alongside the different artists’ disciplines without being too overpowering.
The catalogue has been completely redesigned with the user first and foremost in our minds. We introduced much needed of signposting into the catalogue, through colour coding and cross referencing to a fold-out map to help plan your journey more effectively.
